About Studio Designer
Strong design and creative abilities are a requirement for this position. At W+K we strive to communicate new and creative ideas, push concepts and create work with a difference. We are looking for a unique studio designer who can bring our ideas to life in a creative way.
• Provide a design point of view and communicate it to the creative team
• Create multiple design solutions for a given brief
• Work closely with Art Directors to bring visual concepts to life on comps and mechanicals
• Work closely with the Studio Manager to stay within allotted project schedules
• Use various techniques, including image searches and scans, digital photography, image manipulation, hand trimming, mounting, sketching and drawing, for comp work, for all of our client and in house work
• Design and execute brochures, booklets, OOH, POP, magazine and newspaper ads, logos, TV titles and graphics as well as presentation materials; creates design extensions for campaigns as requested
• Build detailed mechanicals for print, OOH and collateral to W+K quality standards
• Prepare final digital files and proofs to be sent to printer, check quality of color proofs and communicate with printers and other outside vendors when required
• Responsibility for design quality, time and uniqueness of the execution of ideas
• Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design preferred but not necessary
• 3-5 years previous production and design experience required
• Fluent in Japanese, English skills preferred but not essential
• Advanced knowledge and experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat)
• Working knowledge of HTML, Flash, After Effects an advantage, and any additional creative capabilities are an asset (illustration, motion graphics, painting and so on)
• Ability to work independently to see projects through to finish is a plus
• Ability to use experience, resources, and interact and collaborate with other people within the agency to solve problems
• Ability to work well with art directors, copywriters and other designers
• Ability to consistently demonstrate sound creative, strategic, and analytical thinking skills, while maintaining composure in sometimes high-pressure situations
• Exceptional attention to detail, multi-tasking, initiative and follow through skills
• Effectively communicates and works well in a team environment

At least 3 years of working experience, primarily with businesses located in Japan.
Demonstrable experience taking an idea from theory and analysis into a market launch. For instance, this could be as an entrepreneur, a core member of a startup, a venture capitalist, or a product or marketing manager at a multinational corporation.
Fluency in designing business models, carrying out market research, and performing financial modeling.
Native level in Japanese and fluency in English is essential.
You can coach and teach other designers (independently of seniority) about business and energize the community with an entrepreneurial spirit.
You are able to combine human stories and needs with hard data to identify a compelling path forward for product, service and venture creation.
